 Assignment 1

I chose this piece of work because I liked to use the Arduino, and it used a lot of the features we learned about. I added LEDs, buttons, and motors. There was still more that we used that I did not add to this. The assignment was to create a candy dispenser that would only dispense the amount of candy that is actually in the machine. I also liked how this taught us about making physical devices and how to program them.

Learning how to program physical devices is important because it allows us to make things that we can use in our daily lives. You can make money off of these devices if you start to sell your own device. If you know how to make objects and machines, you can automate things in your household, like how Mark Rover made his squirrel contraption. If he did not know how to do things like this, it would have made it hard for him to do what he did. Using this knowledge, if I wanted, I could even make something for fun, like a cosplay Iron Man helmet.

In the unit this lesson was from, it was about servo motors, and servos can do many things. They can be used to open doors like things. They can be used in daily life. I know many different things that use servo motors to do different things. I loved using the Arduinos. They did become annoying at times, but yeah.

Assignment 2

I chose this because I did like making the apps. I liked how I got the layout and functionality I had. I wished at the time I did this assignment, I knew how to add multiple pages because it would have made it so much more fun to do. Adding multiple pages would have made it so that there is more functionality, and I could make it look nicer. I could also have more of the different things we used this year to add functionality to this.

This assignment was to rebuild a popular app. The app I chose was Spotify. I chose Spotify because I love the app. It has a good layout in my opinion, and it is fun to do different things on it.  Building apps gives us practice for the future if we choose to keep working on making apps.

This taught me how to start making apps. This also taught me how to style things better and how to space things on my app better. Styling things is important to know because if an app, website, or anything is not visually pleasing, people will not use the app as often or maybe not at all. Having a good layout makes it easy to navigate through the different parts of the app and will help make it more appealing. Learning how to make apps will be a good skill to know, and I’m glad I was able to learn about it.
